These are listed in no particular order and we have not recently tried all of them. We do not vouch for the these venues, but below is an account of our experiences or what people have told us. We try to do our homework and keep up to date - I know, an awful job but someone has to!!

Street Bean Cafe, Great Wood, Ramscombe, Over Stowey
Not open Monday or Tuesday. Great to visit after a walk in the hills for a coffee, homemade cakes or sausage rolls.

The Kitchen bistro at Quantock Lakes, Inwood Farm, Nether Stowey - 01278 732207
A licensed bistro/restaurant open during the day only, with outside sun terraces and seating areas. Good quality food and renowned for it’s brunches. Various events are held here. Not open during the evenings except for bookable events. Must check website for details and opening times (reduced days during winter).
The Chantry Cafe at Kilve Beach
Perfect stop off during the circular walk from East Quantock’s Head via Kilve. Set amongst the ruins of the Old Chantry and offering cream teas, light lunches, ice creams etc.
The Hood Arms, Kilve - 01278 741114
Very popular and consistent. Located on the main A39 in Kilve village, The Hood Arms is one of our favourite pubs offering good food, cosy fires in winter and a lovely garden in the summer. Renowned for it's Sunday roast (one of the best, including the vegetarian roast!) and amazing triple cooked chips... Booking recommended.
The Carew Arms, Crowcombe - 01984 618631
A lovely authentic rustic country pub where you will find flag stone floors and open fires, good ales and ciders. Under new management, it now does great food (including breakfasts) and their own excellent beers from the Black Bear Craft Brewery in Wiveliscombe. The main bar area is small, but full of character and very cosy. There is a larger dining room and bar, and for summer visits there is a lovely large garden with views. There are live music events regularly - check with the pubs FB page for details.

The Rising Sun, West Bagborough - 01823 431556
A very popular cosy pub full of country character and charm, in this pretty village on the Western slopes of the Quantock Hills. Good menus, comfortable surroundings and close by for that pre-lunch hike up on Lydeard or Cottlestone Hills.

The Cottage Inn, Keenthorn, Over Stowey - 01278 732355
Very popular for Sunday lunches, this traditional pub has a cosy bar and dining area with a larger restaurant dining space to the side. If you prefer a cosy experience ask to be seated in the bar or snug areas. About a 1 mile walk from us here.
The Farmer’s Arms, Combe Florey - 01823 432267
Popular - booking recommended at peak times. Lovely country pub atmosphere. Outdoor kitchen boasting a JensenGrill and a wood fired pizza oven (seasonally used), as well as conventional kitchen, all producing great locally sourced food. Covered outdoor dining great for unpredictable summers!​

The Blue Ball Quantocks, Triscombe - 07353 960578
Recently beautifully refurbished and re-opened, but with limited opening at the moment. At last check, open Fri, Sat, Sun. Be sure to check website for opening hours, exciting food events, guest chef visits, live music events and more.

The White Horse Inn, Washford - 01984 640415
Traditional village pub with beautiful riverside location but only ½ mile off the A39. Good reviews from people’s recent visits. Handy if visiting Cleve Abbey or Torre’s Cider Farm.

Greenway Farm, Wembdon - 01278 425853
Delightful family run restaurnant in an eclectic converted barn on the farm. Quality local produce and great chef. Dinners, Sunday lunches plus events. Check out their website for details of hours, booking and events.

Pebbles Tavern, Watchet
This famous old tavern is full of character and quite an experience. If you time it right there are often buskers (especially Sunday evenings) as well as booked artists. See their Facebook page for events.
East Quay Kitchen, Watchet - 01984 263103
Cafe / bar in the Arts Centre at East Quay Watchet. Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas and snacks and some evening meals (check). Food is middle eastern / mediterranean inspired. Check their website for details.

Combe House Hotel, Holford - 01278 471382
Beautiful location nestled in a wooded valley of the Quantocks and perfect location to walk up into the hills or finish at after a walk through Frog Combe, Ladies Combe and down into Holford Combe. Open to non residents, offering brunches on Saturdays, cream teas and a dining restaurant. Booking preferable. Again, check their socials / website for updates.
The Plough Inn, Holford - 01278 741624
A good location for a pub meal and to walk up into the hills on a circular walk. A very dog friendly traditional pub with a varied menu.
The Ancient Mariner, Nether Stowey - 01278 497510
Traditional pub serving food. Named after The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner by poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The pub is opposite Coleridge Cottage, which is run and owned by the National Trust and open to visitors on limited days during the summer. Reports of dining experience has been varied over the years.
The George, Nether Stowey - 01278 732248
No food is served at The George, but they are happy for you to buy a sandwich from the village shop, or bring your own to eat with your tipple of choice! Serves traditional beers, ales, and ciders, amongst other treats. A cosy and welcoming local pub.
The Rocking Horse Cafe & Bar, Crowcombe 07590 846727
Delightful cafe and bar with pretty gardens, on a farm at the foot of the West side of the Quantocks and near steam train station at Stogumber. Beautiful gardens and quirking interiors, to sit and enjoy a breakfasts, lunches or teas. Licenced. Only open during the day - check website (possibly closed in winter months).

Traditional historic pub in the north western Quantock village of Bicknoller. Aiming for mainly locally sourced foods. Weekend live music events - always check their FB page for what's happening.
